Der Planung zum Campus Westerberg der Hochschule und Universität Osnabrück ging 2009 ein konkurrierender Workshop voran.
Seit 2012 werden auf Basis eines erstellten Masterplans/ Bebauungsplanes, sukzessiv im Kontext mit der Sanierung der denkmalgeschützten Altbauten der ehemaligen Kaserne, der Neubau von Mensa, Bibliothek und Hörsaalgebäude mit vorausgegangenen Wettbewerben realisiert. Durch ein mit allen Beteiligten abgestimmtes Material- und Pflanzkonzept wird ein ganzheitliches Gesamtkonzept unter Integration der Solitärgebäude für die Freiräume der Fakultäten erstellt. Einheitlich abgestimmte Bodentexturen wie Pflaster- und Tennenflächen in verschiedenen Formaten und Funktionen, lassen ein ganzheitliches Erscheinungsbild und eine Adresse entstehen. Plätze und Höfe erhalten Solitärbaumpflanzungen wie Gleditsia triacanthos `Sunburst´ sowie Platanen für Verkehrsflächen. Erste Bausteine waren der Mensavorplatz, das Forum sowie das Umfeld einiger Institutsgebäude wie z.B. die Planerlandschaft von Architekten Benthem Crouwel.
The planning for the Westerberg Campus of the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences and the University of Osnabrück was preceded by a competitive workshop in 2009.
Since 2012, the new construction of the refectory, library and lecture hall building has been realized on the basis of a prepared master plan/ development plan. This was a successive process in the context of the renovation of the listed old buildings of the former barracks with preceding competitions. By means of a material and planting concept coordinated with all parties involved, a holistic overall concept is created integrating the solitary buildings for the open spaces of the faculties. Uniformly coordinated ground textures, such as paved/ compacted gravel in various formats and functions, allow a holistic appearance and address to be created. Squares and courtyards receive solitary tree plantings such as Gleditsia triacanthos 'Sunburst' as well as plane trees for traffic areas. First building blocks were the Mensa forecourt, the forum as well as the surroundings of some institute buildings such as the planners landscape by architects Benthem Crouwel.
