Der Urbanisierung einer landwirtschaftlich genutzten Fläche an der Knollstraße ging ein gewonnener Wettbewerb mit ASTOC Architects and Planners voraus.
Die Flächenentwicklung Knollstraße liegt in einem der „Grünen Finger “von Osnabrück. Dieser genannte Grünraum übernimmt wichtige Funktionen, wie Kaltluftschneisen, Freizeit- und Erholungsräume für Wanderer und Fahrradfahrer. Der Ort gibt eine starke Identität vor und lässt viele Nutzungs- und Freizeitaktivitäten zu.
Vorhandene Landschaftselemente wie Waldlichtungen, alte Bauerngehöfte, parkähnliche Relikte aus Landschaft und Kultur werden konzeptionell integriert und prägen adressbildend den Ort in Koexistenz zur neuen städtebaulichen Setzung.

The development area Knollstraße is located in one of the "green fingers" of Osnabrück. This so-called green space takes over important functions, such as cold air corridors and recreational areas for hikers and cyclists. The site provides a strong identity and allows many different uses and recreational activities.
Existing landscape elements such as forest clearings, old farmsteads, park-like relics of landscape and the culture are conceptually integrated and shape the place in coexistence with the new urban setting.
