Im Rahmen des internationalen Wettbewerbs zum Neu- und Umbau von Therme, Hotel und Parkanlage wurden die Freianlagen vom Thermalpark und der urbane Kontext bis hin zu dem Passer und Busbahnhof neugestaltet. Durch die vorgeschlagene Untertunnelung inkl. Bau einer Tiefgarage konnte öffentlicher Raum eine großzügige Promenade mit Uferweg und eine Parkanlage mit Parkfenster, mit flankierenden Gebäuden wie Therme und Hotel neu entstehen. Der Thermenplatz wird ein repräsentativer Aufenthaltsort und Treffpunkt für die Gäste Merans. Über eine Treppen- und Rampenanlage, der öffentlichen Durchwegung folgendbefindet sich der Boskettgarten mit Stauden- und Heckenpflanzungen, ein Rosengarten sowie ein Wasserspiel. Große und wertvolle Bäume prägen den Raum. Eine bewegte Topografie mit Rhododendron- Kamelienhain bildet die Parkkulisse. Auf den Hochpunkt akzentuiert der Brunnen mit Fontänen den Aussichtspunkt auf das umliegende Bergpanorama.
As part of the international competition for the new construction and conversion of the thermal spa, hotel and park, the open spaces of the thermal park and the urban context to the Passer and bus station were redesigned. Through the proposed tunnelling that includes the construction of an underground car park, public space, a generous promenade with a lakeside path and a park area with a parking window, with flanking buildings such as the thermal spa and hotel could be newly created. The Therme Square will become a representative place to stay and a meeting point for the guests of Meran. Via a staircase and ramps, following the public thoroughfare, there is the Boskett garden with perennial plants and hedges, a rose garden and a water feature. Large and valuable trees characterize the space. A moving topography with a rhododendron-camellia grove forms the park backdrop. On the high point, the fountains accentuates the viewpoint of the surrounding mountain panorama.
